I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!! We sure did!! Christmas Eve was spent at my parents' house. We had a good time. We ordered pizza and opened presents. We definitely had a good time hanging out with my family and getting lots of presents : ). Christmas day was spent at home. Jon and I got up at around 7:30 and exchanged our gifts. My favorite gift by far was one I had actually received the night before from Jon. Jon had written a song for me when he proposed, and one of our friends from college actually has his own recording studio. Jon had been going over there and recording the song with him. Our friend played the guitar and bass and added drums and Jon sang the song and even added a new verse. My parents had bought me a iPod shuffle and Jon had gotten it from them and uploaded the song onto it, so that I would hear it when I turned the iPod on. It was very sweet and now it is something I will have forever!

Justus seemed to enjoy Christmas, although he isn't really into opening the presents yet. He would rather just play with them. He ended up getting some clothes, books, a bounce and spin zebra, and a little table that has lots of buttons that play music. We decided to get him a few toys since we really don't have any big toys for him. Matthias, of course, didn't know the difference between Christmas and any other day.

In other news, Justus had his 1-year check-up at the doctor. He now weighs 25 lbs. and is 30 3/4 inches tall. He is in the 75th percentile on both. He also had to get two shots at the doctor, which he did not enjoy. He doesn't go back until he is 18 months old. Matthias actually goes to the doctor next week! I am very curious to see how big he has gotten.

Last week we found out that Jon's car needs a new engine. We were kind of upset about it since we had just spent a ton of money getting the car fixed just a couple of months ago. His car isn't worth that much money, so I think we are just going to get him a used Civic. We haven't fully decided what we are going to do, but Jon's dad is letting us borrow his extra car until we figure things out. We're very thankful that his dad had a car that we were able to use!!

Here are a few pictures from Christmas!!!

Grandma spoiled Justus with some candy. He really liked it!!

Matthias dressed up like Santa.

Justus' new toy that Grandpa K got him. He really likes it and will even dance when it plays music.

One Year Ago Today...

Yay!! Today is Justus' 1st birthday!! It's so hard to believe that he is already a year old. A lot can happen in one year!! I'm so thankful for Justus and his little smiley face. God is truly an amazing God! Before Justus was born I wondered if I would be a good mother, if I would love him enough, and if I would have enough patience to have a child. The amazing part is God has made me into a great mother, given me enough love, and enough patience. After having a child, I'm convinced that it is just another way in which God demonstrates His love for us, and also helps us to see how much we need him. It really is amazing the things you will do for your child, but even more amazing is that the things I do to protect Justus are nothing compared to what God does to show his love for me. I'm so thankful for Justus, not only because of who he is, but for what he has taught me about myself and about who God is. Here is a little Justus-Review....

Happy Birthday toooo...

THIS GUY!!

Okay really his birthday isn't until Wednesday, but we celebrated with the family today. I was worried that he wasn't going to enjoy his cake, but as you can see from the picture that wasn't an issue. He LOVED the icing. It got just about everywhere, and he went straight from his booster seat to the tub. All-in-all it was a great day, and Justus had a lot of fun.

This weekend has been a pretty busy one. Friday night we had our Sunday school Christmas party and white elephant gift exchange. We had a lot of people there, and it was a lot of fun! Today was filled with last minute birthday/Christmas shopping, and getting ready for Justus' party. The good thing is Justus had stayed with his grandparents the night before, so it made things a lot easier. After the party Jon's sister Sarah watched the boys while we went out to eat in celebration of my birthday. Tomorrow is church, and then time to relax!

I have now figured out a little trick to Justus' eating. If I will let him walk around while eating, I can get him to eat just about anything. He even ate green beans, which he has never liked. I'm not a huge fan of letting him walk around and eat, but I'm hoping if he gets used to the taste of things he will let me feed him in his seat. So far it's not working, but we'll see what happens.

Matthias is doing great! He is going 4 hours between feedings, and we are hoping that he starts skipping a feeding soon. I'm not sure that is going to happen, but it will be nice when he does. He is definitely starting to change a lot already. I don't think he looks like a newborn any longer. I can't believe is 1 1/2 months old already!!

Here's some more pictures of Justus eating his cake and one of him in his birthday shirt.

I'm so excited!!

Yay!! Jon will be home in just a few short hours!! I'm pretty excited!! It's been a long weekend without him although things have gone rather smoothly. Friday night Kelly stayed with me. We ordered pizza and just hung out. It was a lot of fun to have her here. The rest of the time it's just been me and the boys. Saturday night was pretty rough only because Justus woke up a couple times and cried for at least half an hour both times. The second time I actually went in and checked on him to make sure he wasn't sick or anything since it is very unlike him to wake up and not go right back to sleep. So, between being woke up by Justus crying and Matthias needing fed, I didn't get much sleep. I was pretty exhausted on Sunday morning, but I still managed to make it to church. Yesterday went a lot smoother, as did last night.

In other news, Matthias has been a little cranky after each of his feedings, so I am trying a new formula. He's on soy right now, but for about 20-30 minutes right after he eats he is really upset. I'm thinking maybe the soy is bothering his stomach, so I'm trying a milk based gentle formula. We'll see if it helps with the problem.

Justus is doing well. He seems to be a little fussier than normal, so I'm not sure if he is teething or not. I'm hoping that's the problem and it will pass in a few days. I also think maybe he is going through a growth spurt since he has also been pretty sleepy lately as well. He goes to the doctor next week for his 1-year appointment. Can you believe it!?! Our baby boy is almost 1 year old. It's pretty crazy to me. I'll have to do a little photo spread of him through the first year. He's changed so much!!

Boo : (

So Jon is flying out to Seattle tonight at 7:35. He and his sister are driving back here from Seattle, so he will be gone until Monday. Jon's dad was originally supposed to fly out there to drive back with Sarah, but Jon's mom is pretty sick with pneumonia. So after Jon and I discussed it, we decided that it might be best for Jon to fly out there so that Sarah wasn't in limbo waiting for their mom to get better and Jon's dad being able to fly out there. I'm pretty sad that I won't be seeing Jon for 3 whole days...by far the longest we've gone without seeing each other. I'm glad that he is able to help out his family though. Be praying for their safe travel from Seattle and also for Jon's mom to get better.

Tonight my college roommate, Kelly, is coming to stay the night with me. I'm pretty excited that I will have company since I've never stayed in the house alone. Also, having two baby boys and no adult interaction might take it's toll on me, so I'm glad that I will have someone around to talk to.

A new breakthrough in Justus' eating habits...he will eat craisins!! I was snacking on some yesterday and he acted like he wanted one, so I put my hand out and he took one and ate it! I was kind of shocked. Up until now the only things he has eaten have been bread and crackers and things of that nature. Hopefully this will start a new trend, but we will have to see.

Matthias is still doing great. He is starting to be a little more aware now during the day. He still sleeps a lot too though. His diaper rash seems to be getting a little better although I stopped using the stuff the doctor prescribed because it seemed to make it worse. Hopefully it will clear up in the next couple of days.

So everyone is feeling much better in the Klestinski household now. Jon came home from work on Thursday and was pretty sick up until Friday night. He woke up Saturday feeling much better. The boys and I are all doing well, and have been feeling good for the past few days.

We had a pretty busy weekend. Saturday I helped throw a shower for one of our friends from our Sunday School class, which was a lot of fun. Then Sunday we headed home to Mt. Vernon to do Thanksgiving dinner with my family. We had a good time, and so did the boys.

Matthias turned 1 month old on Saturday! It is pretty crazy to think he is already a month old! He had his check-up today and weighs 10 lbs. 5 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile on weight and in the 25th on head circumference and length. The doctor gave us a prescription for Matthias' diaper rash, which isn't bad at all but I guess she was being cautious. Other than that, the doctor said he looked great! He goes back to the doctor December 3rd and had to get 3 shots.

Justus is doing really well, although he has been a little fussy the past couple of days. I think his other top front tooth may be coming in. I guess we will see in the next week or so. It's weird to think he will be 1 year old in just a couple of weeks. We are planning on having a little party for him with our family on the 15th. I plan on making a cake and all that fun stuff. I'm still not sure if he will eat it since he is pretty weird about eating things right now. I guess we will find out.

We've discovered that Justus loves bread!

Matthias is 1 month old!
